Gibson and KEXP Radio, the non-commercial public radio station dedicated to specialty music and public affairs, will present the inaugural CMJ Music Marathon Party in Brooklyn on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 from 8 p.m. until midnight at Public Assembly, a popular new venue. The party is part of the five-day CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival.
Performing bands include The Little Death NYC, featuring Laura Dawn on vocals, Moby on guitar and bass, Daron Murphy on guitar, bass and harmonica, and Aaron Brooks on drums. The Blue Van of Denmark will make their first U.S. performance since 2007 and will be joined by Stars of Track and Field, the three-piece indie pop band from Portland, Ore., on Wind Up Records. The Blue Van are a blues-rock band from Denmark consisting of Steffan Westmark, Soren Christensen, Allan Villadsen and Per Jorgenson. They are heavily influenced by the music of the ’60s and ’70s and were founded in Brondersly, Denmark when the members were only in the 6th grade. The band’s new single, “Silly Boy,” is topping the Denmark charts. Public Assembly is located at 70 North 6th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Tickets for the Gibson Guitar and KEXP Radio 1st Annual CMJ Music Marathon Party are on sale. Details can be found here. Official CMJ badges will be honored on a first come-first serve basis.
